    Event description

WE HAVE ENDED PRE-SALES FOR BOTH SHOWS, SO WE CAN UPDATE AND PRINT OUR LISTS.

TICKET SALES AT THE PHEE BROADWAY FROM 1.30PM FOR FIRST SHOW AND 4.30PM FOR SECOND SHOW. REMEMBER THE SHOWS ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Join us for this gala event!

Want to fill your afternoon with gregarious choirs, dancing communities, fearsome T-Rex dinosaurs, zooming billy carts, AI, an endless train, dancing Lego, and explore quieter moments of watching grass grow, muddy water turning to compost, a cemetery of children and witnessing community resilience? And more! Then join us at the gala event LOCALS Redux: 22 short films from local filmmakers, of which ten are premieres!

For the first time the Chewton Film Society [CFS] and the Castlemaine Documentary Festival [CDoc] are coming together to showcase all the 22 short films submitted for the LOCALS Short Film Program. The program will show the films over two sessions and include eleven premieres. A shortlist of twelve of the films were shown at the 2024 Documentary Festival.

The LOCALS program invites filmmakers of all experience levels to submit a non-fiction work of up to six minutes’ duration and of any style or genre. Through Club CDoc the filmmakers had opportunity to hone their films through a series of workshops with local filmmakers Tony Jackson, Leonie Van Eyk, Bergen O’Brien and Kyla Brettle. Special guests have included Kate Pappas, Sam Dinning and Rob Buttery.

What to expect? A fresh and wonderful mix that includes films from both first time and experienced filmmakers. The two screenings will be introduced by Beverley Bloxham, President of CFS, and presented by Suzanne Donisthorpe and Tony Jackson. The screenings are entirely different with each short film only shown once and the short films from the June screening spread over the two screenings. The list is below.

Real Stories, Real Community, Real Conversations, Real LOCALS Redux

Doors open 30 minutes prior to each session: Refreshments will be available from Chewton Film Society volunteers before both screenings from 1pm-2pm and 4pm-5pm.
