CONCERT DESCRIPTION
Fresh from a sensational show at BEMAC (Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre) PanAlchemy is performing for the first time on the Sunshine Coast. Tsoof Baras and Lachlan Hawkins, co-creators of the unique percussion group SoundStruck, join for a collaboration featuring the unique handpan instrument together with world-renowned bansuri virtuoso Darshil Shah. The trio presents a collection of calming and energetic music that could be described as a healing fusion of rhythm, improvisation and musical spontaneity.
Featuring the unique handpan instrument, this concert explores the meaning of “Unity” through a musical lens. A quest to find common ground underpinned by the trio’s unique and diverse cultural upbringing. Expect moments of soaring improvisation from bansuri virtuoso Darshil Shah, introspective soundscapes, and a unifying blend of these two unique instruments never seen before.
Returning festival artist, Michael Knopf (classical guitar) will join PanAlchemy for a rousing collaborative encore of improvised rapture.
