About the Artists
Australian-Chinese violinist Jennifer Li began her violin studies at the age of four with Shu Qi Mou and later continued her studies with Philippa Paige. She is currently on a full merit scholarship in her second year at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying with Janet Davies. Jennifer won the Conservatorium High School Concerto Competition in 2023, later performing Saint-Saëns' Violin Concerto No. 3 with orchestra under the baton of Dr Paul Terracini. In 2016, she was invited to perform at the Universal Peace Federation and was interviewed by AUCNTV. She has appeared on the 2021 Chinese Spring Festival broadcast by China Central Television. Jennifer performed solo violin works at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. In 2024, Jennifer appeared on the 2MBS Fine Music Sydney Showcase. Jennifer participated in the 2023 AYO National Music Camp and ACO Academy.
Alexander Yau completed his Bachelor of Music in piano performance with first-class honours at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying with Daniel Herscovitch and Elizabeth Powell. He graduated with his Master's degree from the Juilliard School, studying under Professor Matti Raekallio.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra and SBS Youth Orchestra in Rachmaninoff's first three concertos and the Sydney Conservatorium Orchestra in Brahms' Concerto No.2. In 2020, he founded his own chamber orchestra and conducted Mozart's Concerto No.23 from the piano in its inaugural concert. He has given solo and chamber performances in Australia at the Canberra International Music Festival, the Polish Embassy of Australia, the City Recital Hall, and Phoenix Central Park. He has also performed in Italy, Germany, Norway, Japan, China and the USA.
