Independent Spirits - A Whisky Series: Independent whisky bottlers are the rebels and visionaries of today’s whisky world—crafting rare, exceptional spirits that defy convention. Created by the team behind The Water of Life – A Whisky Film, Independent Spirits is a four-part docuseries that explores these passionate artisans redefining whisky through creativity and craftsmanship. The series, which was co-directed by Greg Swartz and Guy Satchwell, features exclusive interviews with more than 50 industry leaders, offering an inside look at their dedication to sourcing, blending, and aging exceptional whisky, highlighting the ingenuity that sets independent bottlers apart.

We will be watching Episode 4, the episode in which Lost Lantern is featured.

Nora Ganley-Roper: Co-Founder, General Manager & Head Blender at Lost Lantern Whiskey -- Nora got her start in the wine and spirits industry as a Sales Manager at Astor Wine & Spirits, one of the country’s top spirits retailers. Her love of wine gradually translated into a deep fascination with spirits, especially the growing potential of American whiskey from all around the country. She left Astor to work in operations for several startups, learning how to build and grow early-stage companies. Now, Nora handles all production and operations for Lost Lantern. She is also half of the Lost Lantern tasting panel.

Greg W SwartzDirector -- After walking away from a job as a newspaper reporter in his native Pennsylvania, Greg moved to Los Angeles to make films. After spending a year at Warner Bros., he moved into commercial production, eventually developing a client roster that included Kia, BMW, United Airlines, and Gray  Advertising.  His directorial debut Another Harvest Moon — described by Box-office Magazine as “Powerful, poignant, honest, uncompromising, and touching — won two “Audience Choice” awards and stars Ernest Borgnine, Piper Laurie, Doris Roberts, Cybill Shepherd, Anne Meara and Richard Schiff.

Nate BarlowProducer -- Nate graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, but quickly rejected an engineering career to be a filmmaker in Los Angeles. He has since worn many hats in the entertainment industry, from producer to writer, actor, director, and executive. Recent work includes restoring the silent film His Majesty, The Scarecrow of Oz, which premiered in September 2024, and directing the award-winning experimental documentary short A Brief History of Hollywood, which played thirty-three festivals worldwide. Previously, Nate also wrote the Meghan Markle romantic-comedy Random Encounters and produced & directed the sci-fi/horror anthology Tales From Beyond, starring Adam West.
