Love, Life & the Other Circus | Artist Talk with Olga Bakhtina
Description
Spend an afternoon with award-winning Brisbane-based artist Olga Bakhtina as she takes us behind the scenes of her creative practice and shares the stories, experiences and inspirations that shape her paintings.
Held as part of her solo exhibition Love, Life & the Other Circus, this Artist Talk offers an opportunity to explore Olga's imaginative world and hear about the ideas that bring her distinctive characters and compositions to life.
“Making sense of life, while leaving room for its absurdities.”
How does an artist turn everyday observations into unexpected stories? What happens between the first sketch and the finished painting? And where does imagination take over from reality?
Olga will reflect on her artistic journey, the influences that have inspired her over the years and her personal approach to painting, where emotion, intuition and storytelling play an essential role.
Filled with vibrant colours, expressive figures and curious encounters, Love, Life & the Other Circus explores the beauty, humour and contradictions of everyday life. Its characters inhabit a world where the familiar becomes surprising, leaving viewers free to imagine their own narratives.
The afternoon will be an opportunity to hear Olga's perspective, explore her work in greater depth and take part in an informal conversation, with time for questions.
