Event description

Join medicinal storyteller Nathan Meola for three stories over three evenings exploring love, passion, and desire.

About this event

What do the ancient stories have to teach us about love?
Why do so many fairytales end with a great wedding, or the image of two lovers intertwined after a night of passionate surrender?
What can we learn from these stories that can help us navigate the path of loving and being loved in this modern culture?

Love is such a powerful, unexplainable force that can overwhelm the conscious mind and drag you under, sweep you off your feet, or lift you into the cosmos. It can come unexpectedly at the most inopportune moments, leaving you in a state of pure bliss mixed with confusion and for some, abject terror.

American poet Bill Holm gives us a clue about what to do when we are struck by love in his poem "Advice".

Someone dancing inside us
has learned only a few steps:
the "Do-Your-Work" in 4/4 time,
the "What-Do-You-Expect" Waltz.
He hasn't noticed yet the woman
standing away from the lamp.
the one with black eyes
who knows the rumba.
and strange steps in jumpy rhythms
from the mountains of Bulgaria.
If they dance together,
something unexpected will happen;
if they don't, the next world
will be a lot like this one.

Nathan will be sharing three tantalising tales over three weeks that will reveal the wonders of love in all forms, before inviting you into a discussion to unravel the mysteries contained within.

Purchase a ticket to a single evening, or register for all three stories. If you can't make it live the stories will be recorded and sent to ticket purchasers.
