Is it possible to love without the pain?

We all want happy, fulfilling relationships. We want to feel close to the people we care about and to enjoy love, friendship and connection.

Yet relationships can also be one of the greatest sources of worry and emotional pain in our lives. We can feel disappointed when someone doesn’t respond as we hoped, anxious when they seem distant, hurt when we feel misunderstood, or fearful of losing the people we love.

But what if love itself isn’t actually the problem?

Buddha’s teachings offer a surprisingly practical way of understanding what is happening in our relationships. They explain that genuine love is a peaceful, warm and open-hearted mind that wishes others to be happy.

The pain we often associate with love comes from something different — attachment.

Attachment looks to another person to fulfil our wishes and make us happy, and then becomes uncomfortable or unhappy when things don’t go the way we want.

Learning to recognise the difference can completely change the way we experience our relationships.

Love More, Not Less

Learning to let go of attachment doesn’t mean becoming distant or caring less about people.

Quite the opposite.

Buddha’s teachings encourage us to love more — but with greater wisdom and freedom.

When our love becomes less mixed with expectation, insecurity and emotional dependence, we can begin to enjoy our relationships in a much lighter and more peaceful way.

We can still care deeply for others without needing everything to go according to our wishes. We can become more emotionally stable when relationships change, and increasingly able to enjoy the people in our lives without fear and grasping.

What You’ll Learn

During this half-day workshop you’ll explore practical Buddhist teachings and guided meditations that can help you:

  • understand the difference between love and attachment

  • recognise both of these minds in your own experience

  • understand why love brings happiness while attachment can bring pain

  • reduce insecurity, expectation and fear of loss

  • develop warmer and more harmonious relationships

  • become less emotionally dependent on other people

  • respond more peacefully when relationships don’t go as we hoped

  • develop a more stable, open-hearted and unconditional love

Most importantly, you’ll learn practical methods you can begin using in everyday life.

More Than Just a Talk

Sometimes we hear a good idea, feel inspired for a little while — and then everyday life takes over.

This workshop gives you a whole half-day to step away from your normal routine and explore these ideas more deeply.

From 10.00am to 2.30pm, there will be time for clear practical teachings, guided meditation and personal reflection, helping you not only understand these ideas intellectually but begin to experience them for yourself.

Your $65 booking includes the complete half-day workshop and morning tea, making it an affordable way to spend several hours focusing on something that affects almost every part of our lives: how we relate to the people around us and how we can experience more love with less pain.

There will also be a lunch break. You’re welcome to bring your own lunch or visit one of the nearby cafés.

No previous experience is needed, and everything will be explained clearly and practically.

Who Is This Workshop For?

Love Without Pain isn’t only about romantic relationships.

The teachings can help us in our relationships with:

partners, family members, children, parents, friends, colleagues — and even people we find difficult.

You might be in a happy relationship and simply want to love more wisely. You might be navigating family difficulties, recovering from hurt, experiencing loneliness or insecurity, or simply wondering why relationships can sometimes feel so complicated.

Wherever you are starting from, you are welcome.

You do not need to be Buddhist and you do not need any previous experience of meditation.

Take Some Time for Yourself

Life can be busy, and our relationships can easily become something we simply react to.

This workshop is an opportunity to stop for a few hours, understand your own mind more clearly and discover a different way of relating to others.

Rather than protecting ourselves by loving less, we can learn how to love more freely, more peacefully and with greater wisdom.

Join us in Toowoomba for this special half-day meditation workshop and discover how genuine love can become a source of happiness rather than pain.

Everyone welcome.
