LOVECHILD Theater Company Masterclass: Rivasorio Puppets Workshop

Our workshop will have people bring in materials they want to make a puppet out of, it can be a shirt or a sock or whatever they want, and we’ll provide general supplies like threads, scissors, needles, etc. We’ll start it as a general discussion of puppet building and how you can make it from traditional to shadow, object, and even experimental puppetry. Then we’ll get into puppet building, with Sammy and I individually helping folks design and craft their vision. Once they’re built, we’ll go into short scenes and play with movement of puppets and finding the breath

Sammy and Calvin are actors, writers, directors, and puppet-makers based out of Brooklyn, NY. They both graduated from NYU Tisch and enjoy creating art that combines multiple mediums and genres as well as showcases their backgrounds as Latine artists. After several years of freelance puppeteering and puppet-making in the New York area, they are now founders of a new puppet theater/film company, focusing on original works intersecting puppetry with other performative art forms.
