Live at the Great: Lucas Debargue - L'Enigme Française

“A performer of fierce integrity and dazzling communicative power.” — Huffington Post

Live at Yours proudly presents the enigmatic French pianist Lucas Debargue — an artist of rare imagination, whose performances feel less like recitals and more like encounters. A virtuoso of electrifying control and deep poetic instinct, Debargue moves effortlessly between worlds: classical and contemporary, refined elegance and fearless risk. He improvises. He composes. He thinks on stage — and you feel it in every phrase.

L’Enigme Française is a programme of shimmering French colour and razor-sharp brilliance, culminating in one of the most notorious feats in the piano repertoire: Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit — music that seduces, haunts, and astonishes. From Fauré’s luminous theme and variations, to new music written especially for him, to a finale that slips deliciously into jazz-inflected invention, this is French artistry in its most captivating form.

Programme
Fauré — Thème et Variations (refined beauty)
Ravel — Gaspard de la nuit (diabolical virtuosity)
Delplace — Intermezzo VI & Ground (dedicated to Debargue)
Debargue/Gershwin — Summertime Variations (jazz-infused invention)

A rare chance to experience one of the world’s most fascinating pianists — live, up close, and unforgettable in the stunning architecture of the Great Synagogue.
