Event description

Winter is here but our gigs are heating up...

July 13 we are stoked to be hosting Lucy Sugerman for her first headline show in ages. Co-headlining the night will be GAUCI from Eora (Sydney) with support from Groovy Daughter

More details below

Lucy Sugerman

Lucy is not afraid to tell it like it is. Her sixth sense for storytelling coupled with a gift for crafting assured melodic hooks is a recipe for sweet alt-pop that can still pack a punch. With two independently released EPs under her belt, the 22 year old self-managed artist possesses an impressive work ethic and dedication to staying true to herself and her art - letting people into her world through relatable tales of her struggles and triumphs in romance and growing up, cathartically capturing the spirit in learning from your own experiences. 2023 saw her playing alongside the likes of LANKS, Sly Withers, Gretta Ray and hitting major festivals like Yours & Owls.

GAUCI

The creative partnership of acclaimed mix engineer Antonia Gauci (Troye Sivan, 700 Feel, GRAMMY nominated for Kesha) on vocals, seasoned live performer David Gauci (Flowertruck, Hatchie) on guitar and creative multi-hyphenate Felix Lush (Brooke Candy, JamesJamesJames) on bass. Together they balance the organic energy of a live band with digital instrumentation, studio and bedroom production techniques, helmed by their studio training and seasoned live performance experience.

Their debut mixtape arrives with all songs written, recorded and produced collaboratively as GAUCI, with the addition of DMA's Matt Mason on co-write 'Eat my Words'. Growing Pains storyboards the all too visceral experiences of self-actualisation and the otherwise undiagnosable aches of change. Musing on friendship, courtship, loss and adulthood, GAUCI invite listeners to consider their place in the world while dissecting the triumphs and necessary complexities of living. Inspired by the organic elements of a live band and digital pop production, the mixtape is as much a self-deprecating middle finger to supposed feelings and actions as it is charged with emotional clarity.

Groovy Daughter

Defiantly vulnerable and sonically immersive, Groovy Daughter’s empowering musical vignettes make sense of a 20-something’s increasingly turbulent world.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of MontaigneAmy Winehouse and Arlo Parks, Groovy Daughter’s confessional yet cinematic soundscapes flawlessly capture the often-gruelling push and pull of millennial life.
