KGNU presents Luke Schneider, Prairiewolf, and April Maple Live at the Aztlan Theater
Event description
Caracol Productions & KGNU Community Radio present Luke Schneider, Prairiewolf, and April Maple live at the Aztlan Theater on Saturday September 13, 2025. Join us for an evening of cosmic ambient instrumentals with a heavenly, improvisational flair.
Luke Schneider is a pedal steel guitarist based in Tennessee. Over the past three decades he has established himself as an in-demand session and touring musician across the Outlaw Country, Indie/DIY, and experimental scenes in Nashville. Most recently, He has found his place in the landscape of New Age and pastoral Americana music. His well-received debut solo album, ‘Altar of Harmony’ (Third Man Records), is a collection of cinematic ambient compositions created entirely by pedal steel. In the years since, Luke has continued his experimental elevation of the pedal steel guitar and delved deeper into meditative and calming sounds. In 2025, He will be touring in support of two releases, a solo EP titled ‘For Dancing in Quiet Light’ via Leaving Records, and a duo record with modular synthesist Jamie Lidell titled ‘A Companion for the Spaces Between Dreams’ via Northern Spy Records. Amongst many others, Luke Schneider has performed and collaborated with William Tyler, Hayden Pedigo, Orville Peck, Soccer Mommy, Margo Price, Lambchop, SG Goodman, and Peter One.
Headquartered along the front range, Prairiewolf offers a fresh and free-flowing slice of cosmic/organic Americana — spiritual instrumentals driven by Fender Rhodes, lap steel, mellotron, guitar, synth, bass and an assortment of vintage drum machines. The band’s self-titled 2023 debut was likened to a “Harmonia residency in an airport lounge.” Its latest LP, Deep Time (Centripetal Force/Worried Songs), is a lush kaleidoscope of sunbaked psychedelia, primitive prog, and loopy space-age jazz that wound up on more than a few year-end best-of’s. The band is Stefan Beck (aka Golden Brown) on guitar and steel, Jeremy Erwin on keys and mellotron, and Tyler Wilcox on Bass.
CO based April Maple (she/they) has been a musician since 2002, and took a windy route from classical flutist to multi-instrumental improvisor, teacher, therapist, and mover. They have loved avant-garde works and has had a penchant for novel sounds (múm, Four Tet, Aphex Twin) since high school, but finally worked up the courage to release music of this genre in the last 5 years. Check out their music Soma Soul Soundscape on all music platforms.
