This two-day theory/practical seminar will focus on lower back pain vs SIJ pain. Sometimes it can be a little confusing when trying to establish is it the lumbar spine? Is it the SIJ? Are Red Flags or Yellow Flags involved? Is it isolated or a combination of the above causing the patients pain and restricted range of motion. When it comes to testing the SIJ there a lot of tests that have poor reliability and validity that can lead to false positives, this two-day seminar will focus on the most reliable and valid methods of testing the SIJ and which SIJ tests to combine to increase the sensitivity and specificity of the examination.
A thorough subjective examination will be covered looking for clues to help us formulate a clinical impression (working diagnosis) and differential diagnosis incorporating clinical reasoning skills to support your findings. The next process of the investigation is the objective examination using current evidence-based research for the lumbar spine and SIJ, once all the data has been collected we will revisit the original clinical impression and differential diagnosis to rule in/rule out specific MSK pathologies via clinical reasoning. Once a clinical impression has been established a specific treatment plan will be implemented for the lumbar spine and the SIJ as well as a corrective exercise/stretching plan. The treatment plan will focus on joint mobilisation to the lumbar spine, SIJ and hip joint. The associated anatomy trains will be included as part of the treatment plan as well as a self-management corrective exercise plan for the client.
