Lume Field Trip No 1 – Creative Nature Journaling & Art
Description
About this event
Spend a day slowing down, looking more closely and discovering how creativity can transform the way you experience the natural world.
We'll begin in the LUME studio by creating a personalised handmade journal using simple bookbinding techniques. This journal becomes your creative companion for the day—a place to record observations, sketches, thoughts and discoveries as we explore one of Waiheke's beautiful natural spaces.
Along the way we'll look at how artists, scientists and travellers have long used journals to make sense of the landscapes around them, and how keeping a nature journal can deepen curiosity, observation and connection to place.
After lunch we'll carpool to Park Point Coastal Track, where a series of guided creative prompts will encourage you to notice patterns, textures, sounds, light and the small details that are so often overlooked. Through sketching, mark-making and writing, you'll discover that nature journalling is less about producing polished drawings and more about learning to see differently.
Drawing on backgrounds in fine art and ecology, Monica combines creative practice with environmental storytelling, sharing insights into the plants, animals and ecological relationships that make this landscape unique.
Who is this workshop for?
