ABOUT OUR PANELISTS
Nicki Sutherland
Nicki is GM of Investment and Engagement at EECA. She leads EECA’s delivery group whose aim is to make it easier for New Zealand businesses to choose clean and clever energy.
Nicki has worked in the energy industry for over 25 years in executive roles and before that as a commercial and environmental lawyer, with 10 of those years in Australia. She’s had roles at Transpower including as its head of customers, in the oil and gas industry, and has worked for generators, retailers, manufacturers, and transport operators. An ex-electricity regulation specialist, she previously spent time writing energy policy and laws, giving effect to her degrees in law and political economics.
In 2018 Nicki took two years out to help lead the Provincial Development Fund. She describes this as the most rewarding challenge of her career to date, and brings this kaupapa around ensuring Aotearoa’s regions prosper and thrive, to her work helping NZ decarbonise.
Joanne Fair
Jo is the Co-founder and director of FutureWork Studio, a New Zealand company helping organisations to re-imagine the world of work.
Jo brings more than 20 years experience in senior roles across New Zealand, Australia, Europe, Latam and South East Asia, working with a number of well-known organisations both domestically and globally. As Global Head of HR for Fonterra, Jo led the people strategy for more than 22,000 employees across 50+ markets.
Jo and her team at FutureWork Studio are working with the Energy Academy to create a common platform for the NZ energy sector to connect and collaborate on common challenges.
Andrew McLeod
Andrew McLeod, originally from Waikato, is Chief Executive at Northpower. Andrew has more than 20+ years’ experience across the heavy engineering, water, gas and electricity utilities sectors in NZ and the UK, including executive roles at Powerco and Vector, prior to joining Northpower in 2017. Andrew holds professional qualifications in engineering and applied finance.
Facilitator - Jono Brent
Jono Brent is the Executive Chair of the Energy Academy. Started by Orion NZ, the Energy Academy is working to close the gap between supply and demand for capability in the energy sector.
Jono is also Head of Leadership Breakthroughs at In Your Corner, an independent leadership coaching and consulting business whose mission is to enable leaders, teams, and organisations to author a breakthrough in their performance.
Jono previously held Chief Executive roles at Orion and electrical distribution contractor, Connetics.
