Event description

It's a sign! Your sign!

We're back with another killer theme. The signs of the zodiac! (No, it's not about the serial killer. Or is it?)

Did I want to place a cryptic and undecipherable ad in the New York Times about this next faire just like the zodiac killer did with the San Francisco Chronicle? Yes of course! Do you (and, more importantly, did Kelly) think that might be well outside our marketing budget for our little old faire? Yes of course!

We will have to stick to silly social ads and your good-natured word of mouth to let everyone know the next event will be absolutely zodiacal!

Learn! About the signs and how they impact your life!
Explore! How to use astrological magic and your ruling planet to create in your full power!
Discover! How to roast your friends based on their Big 3! Or just get roasted by Dr. Witch.
Get! A faire nickname based on your sign. I don't know who is giving them out but I'll think about that one. It would be fun. Maybe another wheel if I can get it together in time

Oh, and we're back at Vasa Park, one of the cutest (and community favorite) venues we frequent!

Fit inspiration:

  • A dress that is somehow a gulf oil spill that caught fire (Scorpio, the inexplicable water sign)
  • Twins in one giant conjoined overall (Gemini, you silly little siblings)
  • A tailored suit fit for a tax attorney (Capricorn, nothing slips by you)
  • A wrathful firestorm forcefield (Aries, please see us for your temp. fire permit)
  • A papier mache dress of your sad journal pages (Cancer, the drama you bring is unmatched)
  • A full circus ringmonster suit with astral menagerie accessories (Nvm Cancer, Leo just entered the chat)
  • Hand-woven couture dress made of palm fronds and a custom cornucopia hat (Taurus has a way of marrying nature and opulence we could never dissect)
  • A portal through time, space, and emotion that brings us to either true enlightenment or the side of the NJ Turnpike (Pisces your powers will keep everyone, including you, guessing for eternity)
  • A bra made of boarding pass stubs and a skirt made of passport pages (Sagittarius, you worldly wonder)
  • Sequin jumper thrifted from a Rent the Runway sample sale (Virgo, you will find every loophole down to outerwear)
  • Air that everyone thinks is water so like, a robe of fog (Aquarius, I promise you're an air sign no matter what you stubbornly believe)
  • 15 outfit changes in a TikTok montage that ends with pajama pants and a tank top (Libra, you never have to commit to anything for us)

    Accessibility

This is a mostly flat fairgrounds made up of paths and grass. There are some slight grades at the front entrance. Most mobility aids should be able to navigate the grounds. Accessible parking is directly outside the main gate. Please tell a parking attendant if needed.

    Parking

Parking is free at this venue and will be mostly on grass. As always, if you have an opportunity to carpool or get dropped off, that's still extremely super cool of you and saves you money and allows for more attendee parking! :)

    Rain Date

This is an all weather event. The only reason we would cancel is if the weather is extremely severe or like the parking fields are snow covered but our blizzard wizard is on retainer to prevent this.

    Refunds

All ticket sales are final. No refunds will be issued or transfers honored for other events unless we cancel or reschedule.

    No Furry Friends Please

Pets other than service animals are prohibited. You may have seen people bring pets. Those people might not have seen the FAQs on the website or this part of the ticket, or the posts about it, or may be ignoring all of these. But please, out of respect for the venue, and, more importantly, non-pet people, and our insurance policy, please leave your furry friends at home. You will be turned away if you have a non-service animal pet with you.

    Children

    Should I bring them?

Depends how feral they are. If they are at least mildly civilized they’ll be thoroughly entertained and will remain undevoured.

    Are they free?

So you decided to take the plunge and make a new generation of cool kids. Nice. 10 and under are free.

Do a lot of kids go?

    A lot.

I've heard this is wholesome. But is it?

As you can see from the above questions, people proudly bring their children. Without getting into a philosophical argument about subjectivity and moral outrage, this is generally a wholesome and safe event. People are friendly, loving, inclusive, and peaceful. But it isn't sanitized. The map might say "Long-Ass Road" and our schedule includes active and participatory spellwork and we do not censor adult vendor products (though most are not overt). We occasionally sell a drink that looks like blood in a bag. But it's non-alcoholic, as are all our potions. And while there is absolutely nothing inherently dangerous to encounter, we're likely always going to walk a line of "propriety." And maybe, as a result, pioneer a whole new unapologetic version of wholesome. It is up to you and your parenting style to decide what you personally find objectionable and what is best for your own children. Our children attend.

That's Khloe, the owner's kid, and Julia, vendor and owner of Darling by JR Boutique :)

    Contagious Illness Stuff

Mask mandates and public contagious illness statuses are rapidly changing and we are a compassionate crowd! Please bring a mask, and wear one when appropriate or asked. This community requires your cooperation and empathy.

Additionally, exposure to contagious illness is an inherent risk in any public location where people are present; we cannot guarantee you will not be exposed during your visit. The CDC advises that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from contagious illnesses. Attendees should evaluate their own risk in determining whether to attend. Don't come if you're sick, showing symptoms of illness, or generally cantankerous. Any interaction with the general public poses an elevated risk of being exposed to contagious illnesses. By coming to Lunar Faire, you acknowledge and agree that you assume these inherent risks associated with attendance.
