    Event description

Join us for a lunchtime session to learn more about identified opportunities for the Illawarra-Shoalhaven Region. The session will be hosted by Christian Keel (Head of Circular Economy and Lifecycle Thinking at Edge) to outline opportunities currently being explored and analysed for the region. These include:

    • Introducing a digital platform to facilitate business-to-business recirculating of materials
    • Establishing a Circular Economy Working Group
    • Embedding localised circular procurement in council projects
    • More opportunities relating to textiles, e-waste, organics, and plastics.

    Background

The Illawarra Shoalhaven Joint Organisation have engaged Edge to conduct a Circular Economy Investigation to identify circular economy opportunities for implementation in the region over the next five years.

To date, Edge Environment has undertaken a detailed analysis of material flows, market opportunities and technologies. Through a combination of
stakeholder engagement, research, industry knowledge and analysis, a range of feasible opportunities to help meet net zero targets have been highlighted for the Illawarra Shoalhaven region.

This is stage one of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Joint Organisation's approach to boost circularity in the region and keep materials in the productive economy, to be progressed by stage two facilitating the implementation of identified opportunities.
