Lunch & Learn: The Comedians’ Guide to Public Speaking

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Speaking at public events can be a challenging, even traumatic experience. So much can go wrong and yet - when it works - it’s a powerful tool to expand your network, challenge the status quo and build awareness of your business and it’s value.

For comedians - from the urbane Amy Schumer to the outrageous Ricky Gervais and the very polished Jerry Seinfeld - their journeys to excellence reveal many common lessons. In this 45 minutes talk, Peter Browne examines the work of comedians to discover these lessons and show us how we can create content that engages the crowd.

Peter has been working with founders and executives since 2012 - helping them communicate their offering ... in fact one used public speaking and social media as a ‘no-cost’ marketing tool to establish her employee benefits startup business in Asia. Maybe we won’t fill 10,000 seat theatres on a 12-month global tour - but we can connect with people and inspire them to believe in our cause and support our business.

Key Takeaways

You will learn how to overcome your fears, how to focus on key themes, the importance of structure, process, body language and expression. You will leave with a map and equipment to set off on your public speaking journey.

About the Speaker

Peter Browne studied and worked professionally as an actor and video producer before working on corporate communication projects in Australia and Asia. Now he is a communication specialist and pitch coach working with business executives and startup founders.
