Lunch & Learn Webinar (Oct 2026) - Hiding in Plain Sight: ADHD in Girls
Description
MHFA Lunch & Learn Educational Webinar - October 2026
Join us for an engaging Lunch & Learn webinar exploring the topic ADHD in girls is frequently missed because symptoms often differ from the more visible hyperactive presentations commonly recognised in boys.
Girls may present with inattentiveness, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, perfectionism, disorganisation, academic inconsistency, or social difficulties, while masking their symptoms through compliance or high effort.
As a result, ADHD is often misattributed to stress, mood problems, or personality traits, delaying diagnosis and support. This presentation will provide insights about girls with ADHD using data from a population study of young people growing up in NSW.
Recognising gendered patterns of presentation is essential for earlier detection, more accurate assessment, and timely, developmentally appropriate intervention.
