Biography – Edward (Chin-Wai) Leung

Edward Leung was born in Hong Kong and is currently studying for a master’s degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, supported by the Molly McAulay Memorial Scholarship. He studies with Associate Professor Stephanie McCallum. Before moving to Sydney, he completed a Bachelor of Music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where he studied with renowned pianist Nancy Loo.

Edward is an experienced performer who has appeared in many concerts and festivals in Hong Kong. In 2023, he was invited to perform in The Academy Rachmaninov Festival and the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Keyboard Music Exchange. His performances have been broadcast on RTHK Radio 4. He has also taken part in masterclasses with internationally acclaimed pianists, including Lukas Geniušas and Minsoo Sohn, through the Hong Kong Joy of Music Festival and the Hong Kong Arts Festival. He was also a finalist in the 89th Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition for the Hong Kong and Macau region.

As a collaborative pianist, Edward has worked with many leading Hong Kong musicians, including sopranos Phoebe Tam and Yuki Ip, and violinist Brian Choi. His wide-ranging repertoire includes vocal, chamber, and orchestral music. In 2025, he served as rehearsal pianist for the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ production of Don Giovanni and worked as a choir accompanist for several schools. He has also performed as an orchestral pianist with Orchestra Academy Hong Kong and the Academy Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his work as a pianist, Edward has frequently appeared as a presenter at music events in Hong Kong.

In this recital, Edward will perform some of his favourite works by Debussy, Liszt, and Ginastera, sharing music that reflects beauty, love, and passion.
