    LUNCHTIME TECH SESSIONS brought to you by Canterbury Tech

    With Dr Claire Robinson (CEO) and Tim Croft ( Relationship Manager / Mata Herehere) from Toi Mai Workforce Development Council


    This presentation will highlight the work for the sector Toi Mai does, including providing a regional snapshot of information for Canterbury, and discusses the government's in-progress consultation on vocational training, including possible changes to Workforce Development Councils and how this might impact training in the sector, and affect long-term workforce development.

    Toi Mai Workforce Development Council was established as part of the Reform of Vocational Education (RoVE) in 2021. Toi Mai has recently produced the first workforce development plan for the digital technologies sector, Te Wao Toi Whānui (The Toi Whānui Forrest), an industry-focused live data dashboard with regional workforce insights, and provides advice to the Tertiary Education Commission around invested for training for the sector, develops qualifications and micro-credentials, collects data on industry composition and trends, including projecting workforce needs.

    About our speakers:

    Dr Claire Robinson is CEO of the Toi Mai Workforce Development Council for the creative, cultural, recreation and technology industries. Prior to joining Toi Mai Claire was Pro Vice-Chancellor of Massey University’s College of Creative Arts, a member of the Massey’s Senior Leadership Team and a Professor of Communication Design. She is also an award-winning designer, author, political scientist and was one of New Zealand’s foremost political commentators.

    Tim Croft
    is a Relationship Manager / Mata Herehere for Toi Mai Workforce Development Council and is lead for Toi Whānui, the digital technology sector. Prior to Toi Mai, Tim was the International Manager for the College of Creative Arts at Massey University. He is originally from North Canterbury.
