Lupa J Gets Top Surgery! Party
Event description
Old friends Fluxx and Lupa J are once again coming together to throw an eclectic live music meets the club party - this time to raise funds for Lupa J's upcoming gender-affirming top surgery!
Lupa J is an electronic pop & club music producer who happens to play violin. They also happen to be non-binary, and after years of deliberation & waiting will finally be getting top surgery later this year. As we all know, Medicare does not cover the costs of gender affirming surgeries, so the only way they (a low income artist surviving on Centrelink) can make this a reality is by turning to community for assistance. They have raised almost half the funds required for the surgery already through a Gofundme, and figured a big gay music party might be just the thing needed to take them over the line in time for their surgery date.
As well as performing their own live set, Lupa J will be joined onstage by a squadron of friends and collaborators, each united by a refined, attention demanding, genre defying live show. The night will be an amalgamation of local rave-meets-punk ceiling shakers Tongue Dissolver, Sydney's tongue-in-cheek PC music dynamo Dyan Tai, etherial emotional bass & jungle experimenter Rita Bass, & the world's first electro-country-murder-ballad lesbian; Toy Shaw. And of course, breaking up the live sets, family fav Fluxx DJs House Mum & Yollks will be providing all the heavy hitting techno, house & breakbeat dance floor release you need.
All funds will be donated towards the surgery fees, and any excess will be paid to the musicians who are currently lending their talent in-kind.
