    Event description

Students are invited to join curators for special program of ‘looking at art’ in the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery during the university’s common lunch time (1-2pm) on Tuesdays during 2024.

Discover new ways of seeing, or ‘reading’ art. A ‘close reading’ of a contemporary artwork can open-up vistas and ideas for conversation, while also revealing what the artist might be sharing with us.

In each of the exhibition seasons of 2024, Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery invites students to join a discussion and be guided by someone who is informed about the artwork – EYES ON ART.

On 19th March join exhibition co-curator Lee Kinsella for a close reading of artworks by Alison Alder in the series Interventions I-IX, featured in the exhibition Jintulu: People of the Sun.This is an opportunity to understand how this work links with the broader themes of race, representation, and identity that are interwoven through the UWA's 2024 Perth Festival exhibition, Jintulu: People of the Sun.

The program EYES on ART continues throughout the year. Other dates include 18 June, 30 July & 1 October.
