    Event description

Lyford Reserve is an oasis for native birds in the heart of Sunnynook. Join a community of locals who are restoring this reserve to keep our streams safe, healthy, and flood-resilient!

Heavy rain can cause streams to overflow, leading to flooding. To be prepared for potential flooding events, we will:

    • Clear fallen trees, debris and rubbish.
    • Remove invasive plants that hinder the natural ecosystem.

By removing rubbish and the critical debris obstructing stream flow, we ensure water flows freely, reducing the risk of blockages and flooding.

    All tools and training provided.

With thanks to Devonport-Takapuna Local Board and Auckland Council Healthy Waters.

    *Note : Maximum number of youth aged 14 - 16 (unsupervised) = 5 youth.
Children aged between 0 - 14 will require guardian supervision.
