An afternoon of glowing sound and radiant melody awaits as the Northern Rivers Conservatorium, in partnership with Musica Viva Australia, presents Lyrical Masterpieces - an intimate recital of French and German classical works.
Violinist Doretta Balkizas and pianist Brieley Cutting will perform a rich program featuring works by Debussy, Boulanger, Messiaen, Margaret Sutherland, and Brahms.
Doretta Balkizas, recently appointed Lecturer in Violin at the University of Queensland, returns to Australia after nearly a decade performing and touring across Europe. She has appeared with major orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and Australian Chamber Orchestra, and has been a soloist with leading ensembles in China and Australia.
Brieley Cutting, originally from the Northern Rivers, is a pianist and educator known for her nuanced artistry and commitment to contemporary programming. She has performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, been broadcast by ABC Classic, and earned her Doctorate in Musical Arts from Griffith University.
