Mōkau Museum - Taranaki Heritage Month 2026
Description
History lives in landscapes, in whānau stories, in everyday objects and practices. When museums reach beyond their walls — through storytelling, events, partnerships, and shared projects — they help reconnect people with that living history.
This talk will reflect on how museums and community organisations can work together to:
• Activate history as a living, shared resource
• Create opportunities for intergenerational learning
• Strengthen local identity and sense of place
• Support communities to tell their own stories, in their own voice.
Free, koha appreciated.
Date: 24 October
Time: 1:00pm
Location: Mōkau Museum & Gallery, 33 North Street, Mōkau 4376, New Zealand.
