Event description

Join Maccabi LIFE 60+, for an active and inspiring morning. The day will begin with a short walk, followed by a presentation by Rebbetzin Fruma Schapiro. The cost is $10, which includes morning tea and light refreshments.

You can choose to join the talk, the walk, or both.

In a world that constantly tests our self-worth—it’s more important than ever to strengthen both our inner confidence and our collective identity.

Too many of us silently struggle with self-doubt. We also tend to feel pressured to hide parts of who we are—whether it's our personal voice or our Jewish identity—instead of feeling confident, proud, and secure in our full selves.

Join Rebbetzin Fruma Schapiro for a morning of honesty, strength, and connection as we explore the Torah’s approach on how to nurture self-esteem in ourselves and our children, and how that personal confidence becomes the foundation for unwavering Jewish pride.

In today’s climate of rising antisemitism and growing hostility toward Israel, being visibly Jewish has never felt more challenging—or more vital. Through heartfelt stories, practical insights, and uplifting conversation, Rebbetzin Schapiro will guide us in reclaiming our pride, embracing who we are, and standing tall as individuals and as a people.

Let’s come together to celebrate our inner strength and the timeless beauty of our heritage—with courage, with clarity, and with self confidence.

About Rebbetzin Fruma Schapiro:

Rebbetzin Schapiro was born and raised in Sydney, and trained as a teacher in Melbourne and New York.

In 1989 After receiving a blessing from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rebbetzin Schapiro together with her new husband Rabbi Nochum, moved back to Sydney, and settled in St Ives to establish a Chabad North Shore. As a newly married couple they arrived with enthusiasm, determined to spread Yiddishkeit and have a positive effect on people's lives, setting out to enrich Jewish life and the Jewish community on the North Shore.

Over the past 30 years Rabbi and Rebbetzin Schapiro have initiated a wide range of activities and programs for all ages. Their passion for Yiddishkeit and genuine care and love for their fellow man have served as an inspiration and shining light for the North Shore community. Their strong leadership skills and uncompromising commitment to their mission and purpose have enabled them to continue to make a huge impact on the community.

Internationally renowned for her inspiration and guidance, Rebbetzin Schapiro's classes and lectures for women of all ages cover a wide variety of topics and empower women to strengthen their relationships and to maximize their potential as Jewish women in modern society.

As a teacher and mentor, Rebbetzin Schapiro connects with her students with genuine love and care. Hundreds of Bat Mitzvah girls have passed through her classes, and attribute their strength of character and Jewish journey to her guidance as a role model for growing teenagers, seeking direction, meaning, and a sense of purpose.

Maccabi LIFE 60+ programs are made possible thanks to generous grants received from Waverley Council and the Wolper Jewish Hospital Health Foundation.

Maccabi NSW thanks JCA for its continued and valuable support of all Maccabi related events, programs and initiatives.
