Macleay Island Community Forum: Regional Futures Collaborative Project
Event description
About this Forum
This Community Forum is calling for residents of the Island communities to share their personal perspectives and insights, ensuring a lasting positive impact on the future of Redlands City.
We want to engage with people from the Redlands region to help us better understand the needs of people from marginalised groups in this region, such as people who are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing homelessness, First Nations people, people living with a disability, Care Leavers/Forgotten Australians, First Nations Care Leaver/Forgotten Australians, Older People, people living with a mental health issue, and women, who often feel lonely, left out or overlooked.
About the Project
This project aims to introduce new ideas and technologies to help improve the quality of life of marginalised groups in the Redlands region. The project aims to improve the quality of life for these groups by helping them become more independent and manage their health better. One big part of the project is using smart technologies that already exist but customizing them to better fit the needs of these communities. We also want to make care more efficient and less expensive by using new technologies. We want to make sure these technologies are easy to use, respectful of different cultures, and capable of solving problems like loneliness and access to care. We will do this by creating a place called the Living Lab, where people can work together to develop and test these new technologies and ideas. By doing this, they hope to attract tech companies, researchers, and other people interested in improving community care to Redland City. This will not only help the project itself but also boost the city’s reputation as a place for innovation in aged care, attracting future investments and development. The project is all about using both existing and new technologies to tackle social and healthcare challenges.
This project is funded by Advance Queensland.
