MadeSC Quarterly Showing
Event description
MadeSC — Quarterly Artist Showing
Join us for our quarterly MadeSC artist in residence showing.
Each quarter, you're invite to come and meet the artists, experience an early insight into the projects being developed, see what artists in the region have been working on, and connect with other creatives on the coast.
This quarter, down in Studio2, we have Darren Blackman, a proud Gureng Gureng/Gangalu man from Queensland’s central coast with Kanak South Sea Island heritage from Vanuatu. Currently in the co-working space, Darren creates paintings, prints and textiles, incorporating carefully considered words and phrasing. Their work also utilises traditional marking methods of Gureng Gureng petroglyphs (rock engraving) by scribing into wet paint, then layering stencilled text over the top in the style of the Gangulu peoples’ rock face motifs.
Up in the MakerSpace Blak Print Club is back as part of Munimba-ja's Blak Creatives program. Over the next three months participants will be developing new skills and works led by established First Nations print makers.
Then down in Studio3, a special exclusive exert trailer and behind the scenes from BESERK choreographed by Jag Popham and produced by KIN which will be premiered as part of Horizon 2025.
5.30pm: doors open
5.45pm: showing begins
