Virtual

Saturday, March 28 1pm-3pm
Age Group: Teens (ages 13-18)
Skill Level: All levels

This is a FREE event!

In this single-session workshop, writers explore what makes characters feel real, messy, and unforgettable. Through guided prompts and perspective shifts, participants build characters from the inside out, examining desire, fear, contradiction, and voice.

By the end of this workshop, participants will complete a character-driven piece or sketch, tools for developing compelling characters, and a deeper understanding of point of view.

Note: If you are under 18, you will be asked to provide contact info for a parent/guardian who can give permission for you to participate.

Please email info@writepittsburgh.com for questions or any issues with registration.

About the facilitators:

Orion Asa (he/him) is a queer poet and Navy veteran. After decades of living a life that didn’t reflect his true self, including years in what he calls a “mental prison”, he found healing through meditation, therapy, and the rediscovery of poetry after a 30-year break. Orion’s work challenges stereotypes, confronts systemic oppression, and invites readers to reimagine what it truly means to be human. Guided by a belief that the greatest human achievement is the ability to give and receive love, he writes to help others embrace their authentic selves and pursue the dreams within them.

Luka (he/they) is a storyteller and author from Squirrel Hill with a particular love for literary fiction, horror, and spending time outdoors.
