Book Launch: Makarra by Barrina South
Event description
Barrina South's debut collection of poetry titled Makarra (Rain) will be launched on Saturday 19 October during the Queanbeyan-Palarang Arts Trail.
2pm - 4pm. All Welcome
- Guest speaker Deputy Mayor Esma Livermore
- Barrina will discuss the collection in conversation with her editor from Recent Work Press
- Reading of 2 -3 poems from the collection
- Performance by The Wamburang Aboriginal Women's Choir
- Delicious afternoon tea will be provided
Barrina South is a Barkindji woman living on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country. As well as being an emerging poet, she is a visual artist and academic committed to Aboriginal women’s autobiographical narratives. She has facilitated several workshops on her visual art and academic research MA (Hons) Sociology.
