Description

Creativity in the bag

Meagan will lead you in a workshop to create your own Love Tote Bag or in Meagan's own words, “How to make a supermodel fashion show bag!”

Monday 26 Oct, 11.00am – 1.00pm at Forestville Library

Everyone is welcome. Adults with and without disability are invited to take part in creative workshops led by professional Studio A artists. Create alongside others, try something new and contribute to a community exhibition celebrating creativity and connection.

About the artist

Meagan Pelham is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, poetry and performance, all guided by her philosophy of true love. Known for her signature “love owls” and delicate emblems of devotion, her works invite audiences to see the world through rose-coloured glasses.

A four-time Archibald Prize finalist, most recently with her portrait of television personality and author Jessica Rowe, Meagan has also presented live performances at the Biennale of Sydney, MCA, Carriageworks and The Powerhouse Museum. Her poetry has featured at Cementa Festival, while her long-running collaboration with fashion label Romance was Born has produced multiple couture collections and garments featuring her artwork and poetry.

Meagan works with Studio A in Sydney. As a leading Australian supported studio, Studio A is driven to ensure artists with intellectual disability have a voice in contemporary Australian culture and to provide employment to their artists through sustainable creative industry careers.

Your artwork, on display

Your artwork will become part of the exhibition at Mona Vale Library, launching on International Day of People with Disability, Thursday 3 December.

Artworks will remain with the exhibition and are not available to take home on the day.

At the workshop, label your artwork with your first name for display and provide your preferred contact details. At the end of the exhibition, we’ll contact you to arrange collection from your preferred library location.

The Library will hold artworks for one month after the exhibition. Any artworks not collected within this time will be donated.

Please contact us on 8495 5028 or libraryprograms@northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au for any questions and accessibility information.
