Make Friends With Your Sewing Machine
Description
Have a sewing machine that’s been collecting dust?
Maybe you received it as a gift, picked one up secondhand, or bought it with every intention of learning—but never quite knew where to start. This workshop is about getting comfortable with the sewing machine you already own.
Together we’ll slow down and explore the basics:
Getting to know the parts of your machine
Threading the upper thread and bobbin
Understanding stitch length, stitch width, and tension
Sewing straight lines and gentle curves
Building confidence through guided practice
We’re not trying to finish a big sewing project. We’re getting to know your machine, practicing the basics, and making it feel a little less intimidating.
What to Bring
Your sewing machine (in working condition)
Power cord and foot pedal
Bobbin(s)
Sewing machine needles (if you have them)
Thread
Your machine manual (if available)
A small amount of practice fabric will be provided.
Who is this for?
This workshop is a great fit if:
You own a sewing machine but aren’t sure how to use it.
It’s been years since you’ve sewn and you’d like a refresher.
You want a gentle introduction before taking on sewing projects.
No previous sewing experience is expected.
What to Expect
This is a relaxed, hands-on workshop with plenty of time for questions, troubleshooting, and practice. You'll leave feeling more comfortable with the machine you'll continue using at home.
