Sat, 22 Nov, 10am - 23 Nov, 3pm EST

Event description

The Hand Drum is one of the earliest instruments known to humankind. Used for communication, music, and spiritual practices, its cultural importance was, and continues to be, worldwide. From the Arctic to the Equatorial jungles, shamans continue to use the hand drum to assist them in reaching a state of consciousness where they can interact with spirit for the purposes of healing or gaining knowledge.

Please join us on November 22 and 23, 2025 to learn about the shamanic uses of the drum, experience the practice of the shamanic journey, and be instructed in the construction of a 15-inch diameter, natural Deer hide hand drum of your own.

ABOUT JOHN MacKINNON

Crow, (John MacKinnon), founder of Shamanic Voyages, has been involved with shamanism to various degrees since the mid 1970's. He began training formally with both Michael Harner and don Agustin Rivas Vasquez in the mid 1990's. He has worked with shamans in North, South, and Central America, as well as Asia and Europe. His teaching practice is primarily of core shamanism, but has been influenced by his exposure to a variety of other shamanic cultures and initiations. Crow has included sweat lodges, drumming workshops, and healing services in his shamanic practice. He is active in the international environmentalist groups Sacred Earth Activism and The Pachamama Alliance, and is an ambassador for the Shamans Directory. Crow produces medicine tools such as natural hide hand drums and rattles. He is an Amazon trained curandero, a legally ordained minister, a Harner Shamanic Counsellor and has completed many other advanced trainings offered by both traditional and contemporary shamans.

Shamanic Voyages is a not-for-profit educational institution. To find out more about this organisation founded by Crow (John MacKinnnon), and it's work with partners and environmentalist groups, please visit: https://shamanicvoyages.com
