MAKING A PLACE STUDIES

Part 1: Sunday 7 September 2025, 10am-4pm
Part 2: Sunday 21 September 2025, 10am-4pm
Tutor: Sue Michael PhD (trans-disciplinary place studies)
Experience level: No previous experience is necessary.
Class size: 6 minimum (Book early as places are limited)
The aim of this workshop is to make a companion journal, in the spirit of Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks where diagrams, drawings, personal notes and observations were kept for future reference.
We will prepare 22 headings, with key words and phrases, and an illustrated banner to grace the top of each new subject. Drawing from the wisdom of writers, humanists, geographers and environmental psychologists, We will prepare for future notes, sketches and investigations into the places that are personally meaningful for you.
The workshop will be led by experienced and trans-disciplinary artist and theorist Sue Michael.
What to bring:
A3 or A4 journal
Watercolour/acrylic paints, coloured pencils, scissors, glue stick, lino cutting tools, apron, ruler, tracing paper, photographs of a favourite place
Sue will be supplying additional materials
Fees:
Workshop $230 + booking fee
