Description

Co-creating knowledge through devising, dialogue and embodied pedagogy

Are you a Drama, Visual Arts, Dance or Creative Arts (SACE) teacher looking for fresh ideas, innovative approaches and practical strategies to enrich your teaching in 2027?

Join us for a free, practice-based professional learning opportunity with internationally recognised practitioners from Massive Theatre Company, Auckland, New Zealand. This collaborative initiative brings together arts educators and theatre makers to explore innovative approaches to arts pedagogy, creative collaboration and embodied learning.

Although grounded in theatre-making, the workshop offers valuable insights for teachers across the Arts, with ideas that can inform classroom practice, student collaboration, creative inquiry and the development of authentic arts experiences.

What will you gain?

Participate in an engaging professional learning experience that explores:

  • Innovative arts pedagogy: Explore collaborative, student-centred approaches to teaching and learning that encourage creativity, critical thinking and reflection.

  • Embodied and arts-based learning: Experience practical strategies for engaging students through movement, improvisation, storytelling, devising and physical expression.

  • Collaborative creative practice: Investigate ways to build trust, strengthen ensemble work and support students to generate, develop and communicate ideas.

  • Professional growth: Refresh your practice, connect with arts practitioners and colleagues, and gather inspiration for curriculum planning and classroom practice in 2027.

Meet your facilitators

Sam Scott, founder and Artistic Director of Massive Theatre Company, is a leading figure in devising and physical theatre in Aotearoa New Zealand. With decades of experience in ensemble practice, autobiographical storytelling and community-embedded theatre-making, Sam has developed a distinctive methodology grounded in trust, collaboration and performers’ lived experiences.

Sam will be joined by Denyce Su’a, a long-standing member of Massive Theatre Company, as co-tutor. Together, they bring a wealth of practical expertise and innovative approaches to collaborative theatre-making and arts education.

Through this project, Sam and Denyce will work with Adelaide arts educators to explore new possibilities for creative practice, professional learning and excellence in arts pedagogy.
