Event description

You’re the one who makes things happen.
You start the WhatsApp group. Paint the sign. Rally the neighbours. Pull off the pop-up — even when it’s messy.

But let’s face it — it shouldn’t always be this hard.

This workshop is for grassroots doers, community creatives, and the go-getters who make change from the ground up. You’ve got momentum — now let’s build systems that match your energy.

🔧 In this session:

  • Reduce the friction in community-led action (and still keep it safe)

  • Learn tools for “making it up” without it all falling apart

  • Bring others into the work without burning yourself out

  • Get real hacks from other legends doing things their own way

No jargon. No complex strategy decks. Just simple, useful ideas to make good work easier to keep doing.

💥 You’ll leave with:

  • Creative co-doing tools that work in the wild

  • A fresh take on “good enough” systems for community work

  • Real examples, real people, real hope

  • A spark to keep going — with a little less grind

About the Presenter:

Julian Canny is a social entrepreneur, performer, and creative strategist who’s been driving community innovation across regional WA for over 15 years. As co-founder of Euphorium, he helps teams unlock bold thinking, grounded action, and a little bit of fun along the way. His background in performing arts, business, and cultural development makes him the perfect partner for grassroots change-makers looking for what works — not just what looks good on paper.

About Act Local:

Act Local exists to make volunteering work — for communities, for coordinators, and for the people stepping up. Developed by locals for locals, the program is grounded in real feedback and evolving community needs. It offers free training, useful resources, and support for VIOs who want to build cultures of contribution without burning people out.
