The Centre for Ecological Learning (CEL), partnering with Yurruungga Aboriginal Corporation, warmly invites the community to the next Malaami Conversation: WAAGAY - a celebration of fire and knowledge. This event honours the elemental power of fire and the tradition of knowledge sharing. It will be a special opportunity to connect with the wisdom of Traditional Fire practitioners, who will share the importance of Cultural Burning within Gumbaynggirr culture. This is the first of four Malaami Conversations themed on the four elements: Waagay/Fire, Wajarr/Earth, Ngaarul/Water, Muya-ngarra/Air.

WHERE: Malaami Gathering Place @Thora General Store
WHAT: The event includes an introductory expert panel on Waagay/Fire, including Cultural Burn practitioners and representatives from the RFS. This will be followed by a demonstration of a small cultural burn on site. Finally, there will be an interactive “Kitchen Table” session where all participants can discuss and share ideas and plans about Waagay practices in our local area.
