Your Chance to Win Adrian Burragubba's original painting ‘Fire Lighter’ From Adrian: We have only been able to carry this fight for more than twelve years because people like you have stood with us. So today, I want to offer something back that is very close to my heart. My original 2008 painting, Fire Lighter. I am offering Fire Lighter with a raffle to help us raise the funds we need to defend First Law and protect Doongmabulla Springs. Fire keepers are guardians of sacred Law. We care for the sacred fire as a responsibility, not something to own. Its presence protects our community and maintains harmony between our people, Country and the spirit world. For almost five years, my son Gurridyula has kept a sacred fire ceremony burning on Country. For my family, this is not separate from the fight we are carrying today. Adani's Carmichael coal mine was forced onto our Country without our consent. Our right as First Peoples to say no was treated as something governments and corporations could work around until the mine was approved and built. Today, that mine operates immediately beside our sacred Doongmabulla Springs, where ancient water rises to the surface after travelling underground for more than 500,000 years. For more than twelve years, we have fought to protect those Springs. Now we finally have the opportunity to take our case to trial. This case could strengthen how Australian law recognises the authority of Cultural Custodians to protect Country, not only for us, but for First Nations communities everywhere. I am offering my original painting Fire Lighter to help us defend the Law that fire represents. For $100 you get an entry to the raffle to win the professionally framed original painting. Thank you for carrying this fight with us.
