Mana Rangatahi - Journeys of Influence Showcase - Indigenous Storytelling through Gamification
Event description
Mana Rangatahi is all about exposing rangatahi to opportunities and we are excited to be rolling out an online schedule of awesome speakers over the coming weeks guided by this kaupapa/purpose:
"As tūpuna, ancestors of tomorrow, what message/legacy do I want to leave our future generations?"
We are delighted to welcome Lisa Blakie (Ngāi Tahu and Waitaha, she/her) Co-Director of Atawhai Interactive, a new games company based in Ōtepoti.
Lisa is an award winning Narrative Designer and Community Director for mobile free-to-play developer Runaway Play. Lisa's kaupapa, purpose is to "inspire more Māori in to game development and how it is more accessible to try things out in game development. Whether it’s art, storytelling or programming, there are now more free tools are at your fingertips, so if you have a computer and an internet connection, you can do anything!"
Prior to joining Runaway she wrote an honours dissertation about indigenous storytelling in video games. Lisa was recipient of the 2020 Te Maunga Kai Kapua Teina award, 20Twenties young alumni awards and has served on the NZ Game Developers Association Board.
We're looking forward to having more kōrero with Lisa and invite all rangatahi into this session to hear how you can pursue a career in tech.
