Seminar Series - Re-engaging & Re-booting Volunteering

As the state of NSW begins to emerge from COVID-19, The Centre for Volunteering will be a hosting a series of seminars to help equip Volunteer Involving Organisations with the tools to navigate the difficult transition period.

Seminar 4 –
Managing Challenging Conversations
Tuesday 23rd November 2021, 10:00 -12:00pm

The frequent changes in regulations and the new access and working restrictions,  particularly around mandated vaccinations and conditions of entry,  has given rise to some extra challenging and potentially difficult conversations as organisations re-engage their volunteers and staff.

This online webinar has been developed to support volunteers engaging with the public safely, calmly and confidently as well as those working in a coordination role where circumstances have meant a required change that could lead to conflict.

The session provides practical advice and a simple model to handle difficult situations that may arise when liaising with others.

Having some tools in your back pocket for addressing these challenging conversations when they arise will help you to:

  • Feel safe in your position
  • Recognise a challenging situation and remain calm
  • Approach challenging conversations with a customer service conflict management approach
  • Keep the community safe
  • Adhere to the current government guidelines
  • Maintain relationships to encourage future visits from those that are unable to access them now.
  • Have an enjoyable volunteering experience without incident
