Managing dry conditions - Far South Coast
Description
Dry seasonal conditions can make it difficult to know when to act, what to prioritise, and which options make the most sense for your livestock and business.
Event details:
Join South East Local Land Services for a practical three-hour workshop and conversation focused on helping livestock producers assess current conditions, consider what may lie ahead and make timely, informed management decisions.
Whether you are already supplementary feeding, considering changes to stock numbers, or simply wanting to plan ahead if conditions remain dry, this workshop will provide practical information to support your decision-making.
What we'll cover:
Understand the season and plan ahead: Look at local seasonal data and outlooks and discuss how this information can be used to plan ahead and identify important decision points.
Get more value from supplementary feeding: Review livestock nutritional requirements and how to assess supplementary feeds for quality, suitability and value for money.
Consider your stock management options: Explore practical strategies for managing livestock and feed demand, including early weaning, re-joining decisions and destocking.
Talk through the options: Bring your questions and experiences. There will be time to discuss the decisions producers are currently facing and the factors to consider as seasonal conditions develop.
This workshop is suitable for livestock producers managing dry conditions or wanting to prepare their business if conditions remain dry.
Additional details:
Workshop location will be advised by email after registration.
