Are you a new Trustee, or Manager in a VCSE organisation, or considering becoming one? Are you interested in developing or consolidating your skills and knowledge of how to effectively manage volunteers in your organisation? Would you like to benefit from networking opportunities? Then this is the course for you!

This course is aimed at experienced and new trustees, experienced and new managers and anyone considering entering these roles in a voluntary, community, social enterprise organisation.

This course is delivered over 2 sessions (both must be attended) and will develop your knowledge and skills to manage volunteers in a voluntary, community, social enterprise organisation. Focusing on the following key areas for managers and trustees:

Identify latest, best practice in all aspects of volunteer management
Explore barriers to volunteering and how to avoid discrimination
Critique and compare your volunteers’ journeys
Describe the legal status of volunteers
Discuss barriers to volunteering and how to remove them
Reflect upon effective recruitment methods online, paper-based and face-to-face
Develop a recruitment strategy for volunteers
Explore how to deal with difficult situations and how to best support and manage volunteers
Evaluate methods to motivate and retain volunteers long- term
Produce suitable documentation for your organisation’s recruitment process

By the end of the course, we envisage learners will have drafted a recruitment strategy and reviewed the policies and procedures related to volunteering within their organisation, with the assistance of Support Staffordshire staff.
