Mansfield Power Forward Launch
Event description
At Footy for Climate we believe that we must do everything we can to protect the future of footy, so generations to come can continue to play at their local club and families can watch their team at the weekend.
We’ve already seen so many clubs across the country affected by increasingly extreme weather events driven by climate change. Since 2020 over 595 local clubs have received financial support and other resources from the AFL to get them back up and running.
That's why at Footy for Climate, we want to inspire everyone in the footy world to come together and protect the game we love from a changing climate.
We are poised to take the next step: Power Forward, our program to install solar panels, batteries and resilience solutions at grassroots clubs to lower costs and reduce emissions.
In partnership with the AFL and with the support of the AFLPA, we’re installing a 30kW solar system and 40kWh battery storage at the wonderful Mansfield Football and Netball Club.
This project will reduce emissions and energy costs by around 90%, money that can go into uniforms, equipment, travel and training resources. Money that stays in the local community.
Our plan is to scale this to 500 clubs by 2030, but for now, join us at the Mansfield Football Netball Club to launch our first Power Forward project and to celebrate with our friends at the club.
Join us to:
LEARN about extreme weather impacts on footy and solutions
HEAR from AFL/AFLW stars and local community leaders
WATCH training as the locals run through their paces
CELEBRATE with a free bite to eat
