Amnesty UniMelb x Bla(c)k Collective: Manufacturing Apathy: Rechargeable Batteries and our Connection to DRC
Event description
Join AMNESTY UNIMELB for a student-led seminar exploring the hidden human cost of rechargeable batteries. This event will shed light on how everyday electronics are linked to exploitation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, sparking critical conversations on ethical consumption and global responsibility.
This event is in collaboration with the POC Bla(c)k Collective: a space under the People of Color Department for all First Nations and those of the African Diaspora. Aimed to provide a safe and overall positive environment for students who identify as Bla(c)k. They ensure that their members are heard in the wider University of Melbourne community and want to increase visibility and awareness about faced issues by members as well as provide them with opportunities. They provide a diverse community where Bla(c)k identifying students can socialise and network, so please check them out if you are part of that community!
