Event description

Join Danny Buttler and Pip Younes from Victoria’s Forest Fire Management as they talk about a new communication approach during the Grampians/Gariwerd bushfires that changed the game.

They will be EMPA’s guests at our next webinar on October 2 at 12 noon AEST.

Danny Buttler is Regional Communications Advisor for the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action Gippsland. Danny was a journalist in country and metropolitan media for 20 years before joining DEECA in 2015. He was part of the Forest Fire Management comms team for the  Grampians bushfires which started in December last year and were finally put out in January this year, devastating the region’s busy tourist season.

Pip Younes started her career in regional radio and moved to DEECA in 2018. She currently works in the Barwon South West region as Senior Communications and Media Officer. Pip has been deployed to several incidents since working with the department, most recently working with Danny at the Grampians/Gariwerd National Park and Little Desert National Park bushfires.
