MAPBM is very pleased to present the fourth in our seminar series - Sonaurality: the vibrating relations of sound and listening with Dr Gail Priest, RoseyRavelston Books Lawson at 6:00pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025

Gail Priest is a sound artist living on Dharug and Gundungurra lands. For over 25 years she has explored the aural realm through installations, audio releases, concerts, sound design for theatre and dance, curated exhibitions and publications. For the MAPBM series she will present her evolving thoughts on sound and listening as an interdependent relation that challenges the division of subjects and objects into discrete entities. Drawing on her work (in collaboration with Thomas Burless) around the translation of sonic vibrations into material forms, she will use Jane Bennett’s concept of shared energies (2010) to better understand the relationships between the human and non-human, the organic and inorganic.

This session is open to the public as well as MAPBM Members, but book early as places are limited. This session will be especially relevant for all performance, visual, digital and installation artists who use sound in their work. Your ticket price includes a donation towards one free drink at the seminar.
