Event description
Maple & Hemlock: An Art & Cultural Immersion focusing on Connecting to the Land and One Another
Join us this July for a unique, weekend-long experience at Maple & Hemlock—an evocative exploration of our multifaceted connections to 'nature,' interwoven with the creativity of local artists and those from afar. This immersive experience invites you to explore rhythm, connection, and community through art, culture, and the natural world.
Maple & Hemlock is a retreat-style art experience inviting you to tap into the elemental forces of our surroundings.
The event takes place on the ground of the gorgeous and historic Montague Retreat Center. Each day will be centered at a different location on the plush 34 acre ground.
Attendees can come for the full weekend or sign up for individual days or even individual experiences.
Dance to the rhythm of the trees swaying in the distance, taste the earthiness of our locally foraged mushrooms, walk on fire—all guided by creatives utilizing nature for expression.

Friday Evening: Harvest on the Hill — The Foraged Art + Dining Experience in the Wedding Ceremony Circle
Step into an unforgettable supper club–style evening at the Montague Retreat Center. Hosted in and around our historic barn, this multi-course feast is crafted by Wheelhouse Farms Catering, featuring foraged & local ingredients sourced directly from the surrounding land and nearby farms. Each course will be introduced by our chef, Patrick Hanas, highlighting a seasonal ingredient and the cultural story it carries—all rooted in land with history dating far back before 1793. The dining space for this experience will be in the Wedding Ceremony Circle, by the apple trees, overlooking the valley below. It will include sculptural beauty of natural materials, designed by Coco Bustin. It will be designed to awaken the senses.
