NEW!! MARAM Collaborative Practice (Wangaratta)

A free professional development opportunity open to all practitioners across the Ovens Murray region who intersect with family violence. This newly developed package builds practical skills in collaborative practice under the MARAM Framework, supporting professionals to work together to assess and manage family violence risk, share information appropriately, strengthen referral pathways, and contribute to coordinated responses that improve victim survivor safety and keep adults using family violence in view.

Who should attend?

Professionals across prescribed services who have a role in identifying, assessing, managing or responding to family violence risk, including those working at Identification, Intermediate or Comprehensive MARAM levels. Participants will build confidence to:

·       Describe collaborative practice within the MARAM Framework and explain its importance in supporting a coordinated, multi-agency response to family violence risk.

·       Work collaboratively with professionals across the service system, identifying opportunities in day-to-day practice to engage in consultation, information sharing and coordinated responses to family violence.

·       Recognise and respond to challenges and barriers to collaborative practice, applying strategies that support effective cross-agency communication and coordination.

·       Understand professional roles and responsibilities within the integrated family violence service system, including contributing to coordinated risk assessment, risk management and continuous system improvement in line with MARAM.

This training is delivered across two consecutive half-day sessions:

Part A: Day 1, 10:00am to 1:00pm
Part B: Day 2, 10:00am to 1:00pm

The two sessions form a complete training program and are designed to be attended together. Participants only need to register for Part A. Registration for Part A will automatically secure your place in Part B on the following day, so no separate booking is required. By enrolling in the training, you consent to being added to the OMFVP mailing list and that your information will be provided to FSV for data reporting purposes.

To gain the full benefit of the training content and activities, participants are expected to attend both sessions.

Please note this training is not catered- we will where possible have access to basic kitchen facilities.

Prerequisites:

You are expected to have completed the MARAM Foundational eLearn (Family Violence Foundational Knowledge - eLearn - Information Sharing and MARAM Online Learning System) as well as one of the following: MARAM Identification, Intermediate or Comprehensive sessions, prior to attending this training. These introduce key concepts, terminology and practice guidance that will be further built on and applied in this session. Multiple options available:

What's New?
This training reflects the latest MARAM Collaborative Practice curriculum endorsed by Family Safety Victoria (developed in partnership with Safe & Equal and Family Violence Regional Integration Committees across the state). As part of a statewide rollout, the updated content provides practical guidance for professionals working across the service system to improve information sharing, referral pathways, collaborative risk assessment, and coordinated risk management in line with MARAM practice requirements.

Part A: Foundations of Collaborative Practice and Information Sharing: Focuses on building a strong foundation in MARAM-informed collaborative practice and understanding the frameworks that support coordinated responses to family violence.

Participants will explore:

·       MARAM-informed practice foundations, including a shared understanding of family violence and applying a whole-of-family lens.

·       The visibility of adults using family violence and system accountability.

·       Family Violence Reform alignment with collaborative practice.

·       MARAM frameworks and legislative obligations for professionals.

·       Information sharing in practice and the role of collaborative decision-making.

·       Secondary consultation and effective referral pathways.

·       Mapping and navigating the local service system.

·       Assessing risk relevant information, including identifying patterns of family violence behaviour.

·       Interactive activities, group discussions and case study work to apply learning in practice.

Part B: Collaborative Risk Assessment, Risk Management and System Responses: Session focuses on applying collaborative practice skills to risk assessment, risk management and coordinated responses that support victim survivor safety.

Participants will explore:

·       Collaborative risk assessment and appropriate information sharing.

·       Discussing information sharing with victim survivors.

·       Assessing and documenting information related to adults using family violence.

·       Collaborative risk management approaches, including safety planning and engaging support services.

·       Coordinated responses through case study activities and professional reflection.

·       Navigating challenges and barriers, including consent, engagement and systemic issues.

·       Strengthening cross-sector collaboration and shared responsibility across the service system.

·       Key takeaways and practical strategies to support ongoing collaborative practice under the MARAM Framework.
