What is the Maramataka?
The Maramataka is the traditional Māori lunar calendar, used for generations to track the natural cycles of the environment, guide planting and harvesting, and align daily activities with the rhythms of the moon and seasons.
What is the Rātaka Taiao?
The Rātaka Taiao is an annual Maramataka-based planner, created specifically for our region by Ron Taiapa. It helps individuals, whānau, and communities reconnect with natural cycles, supporting mahi, decision-making, and hauora.
What to Expect at the Workshop:
🖍 Colouring & Customisation – Bring your Rātaka Taiao to life with colour coding.
🤝 Community Sharing – Gain deeper insights into how the Maramataka works and how to use the Rātaka Taiao in daily life. Come and kōrero about how it helps you navigate the seasons, mahi, and hauora.
💡 Bring your own colouring materials if you like, or use what’s provided.
Get a ticket to secure your spot. The $5.00 for the ticket includes your very own Rātaka Taiao Wall Planner. Limited spots available per session due to space requirements.
