About Marcel Fable Price:

Marcel Fable Price is a walking kaleidoscope of human experience—a multi-hyphenate, self-taught creative whose work exists at the crossroads of oratory magic and raw, resonant writing. Once the youngest, first person of color, and first without a college degree to serve as Poet Laureate of Grand Rapids, MI (2017-2020), Fable has become a nationally touring storyteller whose words are both a mirror and a window. His poetry has been used to inaugurate state representatives and even a Senate Majority Leader, celebrating the mortar of our shared humanity: connection.

Fable’s journey is as layered as his work. He’s the 2016 Community Advocate Award recipient, a 2017 40 Under 40 honoree, a 2020 Black Bottom Community Builder Award winner, and a 2023 Imagination Award recipient from the West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology. His accolades are as diverse as his audience, ranging from features by PBS, The Frey Foundation, and Mental Health America to publications like The Missouri Review, Button Poetry, and Write About Now.

With a voice like stained glass and a soul that turns testimony into transformation, Fable’s first full-length collection, New American Monarch, is available now on Audible and wherever books are sold. Dive into his work at www.MarcelFablePrice.com and let his words become a sanctuary for your soul.

About The Simple Thoughts of a Poet:

This book of poems is a direct reflection and reminder of where I came from and the evolution from thinking, to writing, to performing. The words in this book are my most intentional. The emotions are raw, and the subject matter is my truth. Even when it doesn't paint me in the best of light. The Simple Thoughts of a Poet is meant to represent a new and young poet scribing his thoughts into the only thing that seems to listen. I wrote most of these poems during some of the darkest points of my life. I hope it may be a light for others to keep the fight when the going gets tough.

About Stephen Gren:

Since stepping onto the stage for the first time—initially thinking it would also be the last—Stephen Gren has been captivated by the fire of performance and the power of words.

What began as hesitation in March of 2012 quickly ignited into a deep passion for writing and performing spoken word poetry, leading him to venues across the state and audiences he never imagined would listen. His journey has extended beyond the mic, into classrooms where he’s had the privilege of teaching and sharing his love for spoken word with the next generation of poets.

In March of 2023, he returned to a stage he once called home for a closing show, marking a significant moment in his artistic evolution. Since then, he’s continued to be a sought-after feature performer, earning recognition as a Detroit Abundance Semifinal Slam Champion and competing in one of the most historic slam competitions in recent Chicago history—Frankie Tee’s Poetry Slam at Donda’s House—as the only Michigan poet in the competition.

In October 2024, Stephen released his spoken word album, The Simple Thoughts of a Poet, followed by a self-published book of the same name in November 2024. While they share a title, each project stands as a unique and immersive experience, offering different dimensions of his artistry. With over a decade of storytelling behind him and countless performances ahead, Stephen Gren continues to bring truth to the stage—one poem at a time.
